Dr Sharon is the former director of UC Berkeley’s Phoebe Hearst Museum of Anthropology and the San Diego Museum of Man. For the last five decades he has been doing ethnobotanical research with healers on Peru’s north coast and he was part of the 1964-65 expeditions that uncovered the ruins of Vilcabamba, capital of the Neo-Incan state.
