“What Killed Lucia Vega Jimenez? the Story of Transit, Racism and State Violence”
March 12, 2015, 7pm
Room B144, Langara College, 100 West 49 Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia V5Y 2Z6
When Lucia Vega Jimenez was arrested for an unpaid transit fare, this minor infraction ended up costing her her life. She was turned over to Border Services to be deported back to Mexico, but ended up committing suicide rather than return to the unsafe situation there.
Please join Karla Lottini of No One Is Illegal, Montse Rueda of Solidaridad Con Ayotzinapa and Eric Lescarbeau of the Commercial Drive I.S. for a discussion of Lucia’s story. How did racism and the violence of the state end the lives of Lucia and the 43 student teachers of Ayotzinapa, Mexico? And how do we organize resistance to these attacks?
Join the International Socialists at Langara College Room B144 for this panel discussion. Facebook event page.
