Who Killed the Archbishop?
Book Launch and Community Building Event
April 3, 2017, 7pm
St. James Community Square, 3214 West 10th Ave., Vancouver
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Matt Eisenbrandt, author of Assassination of a Saint read from this thrilling account of how a band of young lawyers and investigators launched an American legal action that brought to light the death squad murderers of Archbishop Oscar Romero in El Salvador in 1980. The murder of the Archbishop was ordered by death squad leaders and was meant to silence Romero’s public condemnation of the war on the Salvadoran people being waged then by oligarchs with ties to the American government. This is a story as exciting as anything written by John Le CarrĂ©, but it is history, not fiction.
Local human rights and civil liberties groups are being invited to help promote this event and to have a presence at the launch with their own literature, so the hope is that this event will serve not only to introduce Vancouver to a remarkable new book but also to introduce those who attend to groups currently at work on the social justice agenda for which Archbishop Romero died.
