Wednesday, March 16, 2016, 11:45am-12:45pm
Forest Sciences Centre, Room 2916. 2424 Main Mall, Vancouver BC.
“Every day, a melancholy old bear takes a mechanical diorama that he has created out to his street corner. For a coin, passersby can look into the peephole of his invention, which tells the story of a circus bear who longs to escape and return to the family from which he was taken”
During this event we will display, discuss and celebrate the recognition that is given to this film through a panel discussion comprised by Carmen Rodríguez and Felipe Verdugo.
Felipe Verdugo: As a child he was fascinated by the Christmas stop-motion movies and dazzled by the visual effects of the Star Wars saga. After studying design at the Catholic University of Chile, Felipe obtained a Diploma in 3D Animation at the Vancouver Film School in 2003. He is currently working in an animation studio as FX supervisor, while he tries to contribute building closer relationships between Canadian and Chilean producers.
Carmen Rodríguez: is a poet, a writer, a translator, a journalist and an educator. She was born in Chile and moved to Vancouver following the military coup of 1973 in her native country. She has worked as instructor and professor across a range of disciplines – from literature and cultural studies to creative writing and literacy education – in both Spanish and English.
