4pm: Join the cooking and altar-making fun!
6pm onwards: Dinner and Party!
2791 W 11th Avenue (back basement entrance)
Día de los muertos is almost here! This is one of the most important festivities in Mexico, especially for indigenous communities. In Vancouver, CIPOVAN will be hosting a party to celebrate and remember this awesome day, and you’re all invited!
We’ll set up an altar for the dead, and make a traditional meal from Oaxaca, including mole negro (chocolate sauce), hot chocolate and pan de muerto (bread of the dead). If you come early you can help us make all of this wonderful food, help shape the bread, and decorate the altar!
Please RSVP: this event, including the meal is by donation (suggested donation: $6), but no one will be turned away. We are working to raise money for the projects of the CIPO communities in Oaxaca, so we will also have some crafts and products to sell from the Margarita Magon women’s cooperative. Also, feel free to bring something to share, as well as pictures or offerings for the altar, if you want. Oh yeah, and BYOB!
