    Our Program

    Latin American Studies is an interdisciplinary program with over thirty-five affiliated faculty members. We offer an undergraduate major and minor, with a wide selection of courses. We also organize regular events, support graduate students, and promote high-level research. Our mission is to advance the study and teaching of Latin America at UBC and throughout the lower mainland.

    2025S Go Global Seminar: Walking with Public Art: Immersive Learning as Public Scholars

    Over the course of an intensive week, students will go on site visits to key museums in Bogota, studying public art as a pedagogic prompt. They will work in collaborative teams, and participate in a research seminar and an exhibition of work-in-progress at the end of the week. On their return to UBC, students will work together on a team podcast, as well as a final team paper for publication in the University of Andes' student research journal. Applications close on Thursday, December 5, and a recording of the information session is available.
    2025S Go Global Seminar: International Conservation and Forest Ecosystem Management Field School

    In this Go Global Seminar, students will examine forest resource systems and conservation efforts, focusing on four ecosystems in Ecuador: dry coastal forests, Amazon tropical forests, cloud forests, and paramo ecosystems. Applications close on Thursday, December 5, and information session slides are available.
    2025S Go Global Seminar: Spanish Language in the Galapagos

    This Go Global Seminar is an intensive Spanish course that will take place on the Galapagos Islands. This course meets the Faculty of Arts Language Requirement. Applications close on Thursday, December 5, and the information session is Tuesday, December 3 from 4-5pm via Zoom.
