Artists’ Meet and Greet
August 20, 2016, 2-3pm
The art exhibit, “Mexico: Traditions and Contradictions,” showcases works by fourteen local Mexican artists manifesting the paradoxes of the Mexican nation. The image of the exhibition, a circle symbolizing the pre-Hispanic ball game in which the winner was sacrificed to honour the ancient Gods, epitomizes a tradition and a contradiction of ancient Mexico while representing the concept of the artwork showcased.
The goal of the exhibition is to honour the Mexican spirit in Canada, a country that has welcomed all the artists of the exhibition as newcomers.
The exhibition will be held from the 16th to the 28th of August at the Ferry Building Gallery in West Vancouver. The artists’ meet-and-greet reception will be held on August 20th.
