The Hispanic Film Society of Victoria is pleased to announce:
The Sixth Annual Latin American and Spanish Film Week
September 22-27, 2015
The University of Victoria’s Cinecenta
Don’t miss this exciting event that brings to Victoria a sample of the best movies produced today in Latin America and Spain.
The 2015 line-up features a documentary about the Huicholes (an indigenous people in central Mexico who are fighting to keep their ancestral traditions), social dramas from Brazil and Cuba, a crime thriller from Argentina, an urban comedy from Mexico and a road movie from Spain.
Regular Cinecenta prices apply, and tickets will be available at the box office at the screening of each film. All films will be shown with English subtitles.
You can read synopses and see trailers for each of the films on our website, and “Like” us on our Facebook page.
This year we are inviting Argentine director Hernán Vilchez to present his documentary Huicholes: los últimos guardianes del peyote (“Huicholes: the Last Peyote Guardians”). This movie will open the Film Week on September 22 and will include a Q&A session.
Mr. Vilchez will also deliver two presentations:
