Our friends at the Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre have circulated an end-of-year review:
“We are excited to say that we reached our main goal for 2015: end of Phase 1. We set a target of having VLACC’s Feasibility Study done by year end and that was accomplished in September, with the support of the City of Vancouver, Scotiabank, and individual donations. The study was conducted by CitySpaces Consulting and clearly demonstrates a demand for a Latin American cultural centre in Vancouver. We are now working on our Case for Support, that will be completed by early 2016.
Programming
2015 was a busy year, with two main events: Brazilian Animation & Game Day at the Vancouver Film School, and Afro-Cuban Dimensions at the PlayHouse (our first commissioned concert). Along the year we supported other events, namely Brazilian Film Absence at the Vancouver International Film Festival, and the play Anywhere But Here (Roundhouse). We also had an information stall at Latin Summer Fest, at Trout Lake Park. Thank you to all of you who supported these events, by attending, donating, or volunteering.
Membership Campaign
During the presentation of Afro-Cuban Dimensions we launched our very first Membership Campaign. Click here to donate $50 and become a Founding Member.
2016, here we come!
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very happy Holiday Season. Thank you for being with us at every step of the way. We are committed to our mission to establish a centre for the presentation, preservation, and celebration of Latin American arts and culture in Vancouver, and your support is the engine that keeps us moving.”
