Description:
Vancouver is a global hub of film production, animation, games, and digital arts. All aspiring and current members of this thriving community are invited to join the Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre and Vancouver Film School for an immersive full-day experience dedicated to the display, discussion, and celebration of exciting Brazilian productions in animation, film, and games.
Vancouver and Brazil have a unique link when it comes to animated films: the directors of Anima Mundi, the largest animation festival in Latin America, were trained by a National Film Board of Canada program offered in Brazil. Cesar Coelho, one of these directors and a founding member of Anima Mundi, will be sharing his experience as an animator and organizer of a renowned festival that has been dazzling huge audiences for 23 years. His participation includes an afternoon screening and discussion of selected shorts and a master class in animation.
In the morning, attendees will enjoy an open house event and discover what students in VFS’s industry-led Game Design, Programming for Games, Web + Mobile, and Animation + Visual Effects programs can achieve in just one year. They will also have the opportunity to play a selection of over 20 of the hottest new Brazilian games, including highlights from the 2015 Brazilian Independent Game (BIG) Festival.
The day will end with a screening of the award-winning Brazilian animated feature, The Boy and the World (Dir. Alê Abreu) followed by a cocktail party with live music.
