Julio Garmendía Peña: His Excellency the Cuban Ambassador to Canada. His Excellency Mr. Julio Garmendía Peña has been the Cuban Ambassador to Canada since April 2013. He has served as part of Cuba’s international diplomatic corps for over 40 years.
Stephen Kimber: Professor of Journalism at the University of King’s College in Halifax, an award-winning writer, editor and broadcaster. He is the author of one novel and eight nonfiction books. His newest book is What Lies Across the Water, The Real Story of the Cuban 5.
Don Foreman: Union Representative for the Central Region of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers as well as Co-chair of the Cubacan Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five in Ottawa, Canada.
This event is part of a West Coast Tour of events organized by the Free the Cuban 5 Committee-Vancouver to mark the occasion of Vancouver’s 100th monthly protest action in front of the US Consulate in Vancouver to free the Cuban 5. For this tour there are 8 events in 5 days in Vancouver, Nanaimo, Kamloops, Seattle, and Victoria from March 5- 8.
