CINEAMANO
Arturo Lopez “Pío” creates CINEAMANO, a pictorial expression that takes strength from its cinematic nature: light projected onto a screen. This technique allows for a sequence of images to be projected onto a screen that portrays the live use of mediums such as Chinese ink, sand, oil, and puppets among others, to create ephemeral sequences of projected images, drawings and paintings. This practice is completed with a simultaneous series of vocal explorations and manifestations on Juan Pablo Villa’s part.
Kim Huum Mayan Trumpets: Sonidos Encantados
(Abril Pluma Ochoa & Elam Ramírez Lopez)
The members of Sonidos Encantados (Enchanting Sounds) have experience composing and playing ethnic musical instruments. In August 2010, Abril Pluma performed a sold out show along with other musicians from the Crystal Bowls Group at the Ollin Yoliztli Hall, in Mexico City. In 2010, trumpet player Elam Ramírez was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to represent Mexico and perform as part of the duet HomPaks: Kih-Huum at the Shanghai Expo.
In addition to those performances, both members have made appearances in various parts of Mexico. Their objective was not only to provide entertainment, but to educate their audience about these unique instruments. The crystal bowls and Mayan Trumpet or “HomPak” (an instrument similar to the Didgeridoo from Australia or the Tibetan trumpet), are said to generate peace and harmony leading to a unique sense of relaxation.
The duet was created as a way to showcase this innovative music, based on the HomPak performance by Elam Ramirez and the enchanted bowls by Abril Pluma, creating sounds that they called “electro-ethnics”. They also integrated other instruments such as tuning forks, Sioux flute, traditional drums, teponaztles, along with Abril Pluma’s melodious voice to enrich the original compositions of this duet.
In order to get a few moments of relaxation, recreation or meditation, these artists remove a little of the mechanical routine of society and we are instantly reconnected with the vibration of our planet, our inner music and our harmonious unity as living beings. You are invited to listen to: Sonidos Encantados.
