Discussant: Dr. Vanessa Andreotti, Associate Professor, Canada Research Chair in Race, Inequalities and Global Change, Faculty of Education, UBC.
Visiting Speakers:
Simone Sarmento (Languages without Borders and Federal University of Rio Grande Do Sul – UFRGS, Brazil). Dr Sarmento will address two programs related to the internationalization of Brazilian Universities: Science without Borders and Language without Borders. She will present an outline of both programs, main results so far and also figures related to the programs in Canada.
Elisa S. Thiago (Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education – CAPES, Brazil). Dr Thiago will examine case studies of novel and experimental internationalization efforts from Brazil, and consider how they might align with and/or contest the global imaginary.
Frederico Oppermann Lisboa (Science without Borders student, Health Sciences and Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology, Simon Fraser University). As a Science without Borders student Frederico Lisboa will provide an insight of what it is like to be an undergraduate student under an internationalization program.

The main objective of the series is to create awareness about the academic work done at post-secondary Canadian institutions about Brazil, and the work done in Brazil in areas that have an international impact and are interesting to researchers and faculty members of post-secondary Canadian institutions.
