Unfortunately, Alberto Moreiras’s visit has had to be postponed until next semester.
February 14th, 8pm-9pm, Green College: “Hyperneoliberalism”
Prof. Moreiras will give a fireside chat on the current economical crisis through a criticism of the political and economical positions hold by key economists and thinkers, both from the 20th century and today: John Maynard Keynes, Friedrich Hayek, Jacques Lacan, and Antonio Negri, among others. Dr. Moreiras will discuss the possibilities (if there are any) and the limits of the current Leftist turn to a Keynesian economic order.
February 15th, 4pm-6pm, Buchanan Tower Penthouse: “Cujusdam nigri & scabiosi Brasiliani. Strange Visitations. Rancière and Derrida”
This talk explores the polemic around the demotic principle in neoAlthusserian political ontologies versus its weak understanding in political deconstruction. It explores Spinoza’s dream concerning stranger visitations and their impact on democratic thought.
